Jess Walter (born July 20, 1965) is an American author known for his seven novels, two collections of short stories, and a non-fiction book. He won the Edgar Allan Poe Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2006. His work has been translated into more than 20 languages, and his essays, short fiction, criticism, and journalism have been published in notable outlets like Details, Playboy, Newsweek, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe. Walter also writes screenplays and co-authored Christopher Darden’s 1996 bestseller In Contempt. He lives in his childhood home of Spokane, Washington, with his wife Anne and their children, Brooklyn, Ava, and Alec.
