Jason Mott

Jason Mott is an American novelist and poet. He is renowned for his fourth novel, Hell of a Book, which won the 2021 National Book Award for Fiction. Jason lives in southeastern North Carolina and holds a BFA in Fiction and an MFA in Poetry from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His poetry and fiction have been featured in several esteemed journals including Prick of the Spindle, The Thomas Wolfe Review, The Kakalak Anthology of Carolina Poets, Measure, and Chautauqua.

In 2009, he was nominated for a Pushcart Prize award, and Entertainment Weekly recognized him as one of the "10 New Hollywood: Next Wave" individuals to watch. Jason is also the author of two poetry collections: We Call This Thing Between Us Love and “…hide behind me…”

His debut novel, The Returned, was optioned by Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, in association with Brillstein Entertainment and ABC.
