Hirohiko Araki, born Toshiyuki Araki, is a renowned Japanese manga artist. He is the mastermind behind the long-running series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which debuted in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1987. The series boasts over 120 million copies in circulation, earning its place as one of the best-selling manga series in history.
Araki's passion for manga was recognized early in his career when he received the prestigious Tezuka Award in 1979 for his work on Busō Poker. Before embarking on his illustrious manga career, he left school prior to graduating from the Miyagi University of Education.
His interests extend beyond manga; he is an admirer of the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants), as well as video games such as Mario Kart and Bomberman. Araki also has a taste for music, enjoying works by Prince and other African-American artists, along with jazz, rock, and rap genres.
