Han Song is a prominent Chinese science fiction writer and journalist known for his works that often explore dark themes. Born in 1965 in Chongqing, Han Song embarked on his literary journey with the publication of his first short story collection, Gravestone of the Universe ( 宇宙墓碑), in 1981. Initially published in the Taiwanese journal Huanxiang (幻象), the collection faced a decade-long wait before being published in the People's Republic of China due to publishers' reservations about its tone.
Throughout his career, Han has been honored with the prestigious Chinese Galaxy Award for fiction six times. His contributions to the genre have earned him recognition as China's premier science fiction writer by the LA Times. In addition to his literary achievements, Han Song serves as a journalist for the state news agency Xinhua.
