Guram Dochanashvili was a renowned Georgian prose writer and historian, born on March 26, 1939, in Tbilisi, the capital of then-Soviet Georgia. He gained popularity for his compelling short stories that began to captivate readers since the 1960s.
Dochanashvili completed his education at Tbilisi State University in 1962. Following his graduation, he dedicated his efforts to the Institute of History, Archaeology, and Ethnography, where he actively participated in numerous archaeological expeditions from 1962 to 1975.
From 1975 to 1985, he led the prose section of the literary magazine Mnatobi. Later, in 1985, he became the director-in-chief of the Gruziya-film studio.
His literary journey began in 1961 when he debuted as a writer. His work was notable for defying the Soviet literary norms of Social Realism, marking a significant shift in the literary landscape of the time.
