Gayle Forman is an American young adult fiction author, best known for her novel If I Stay, which topped the New York Times best sellers list of Young Adult Fiction and was made into a film of the same name. She has written several bestselling novels for young adults, including the Just One Series, I Was Here, Where She Went, and the #1 New York Times bestseller If I Stay, which has been translated into more than 40 languages and in 2014 was adapted into a major motion picture.
Gayle published Leave Me, her first novel starring adults in 2016, and her latest novel, I Have Lost My Way, was released in March 2018. She has also ventured into middle-grade fiction with her novel Frankie & Bug, which was a New York Times best children’s book of the year, and Not Nothing, hailed as a “masterpiece” and the “book we all need at the time we all need it.” Her 13th published novel, After Life, is set to be released in January 2025.
A former journalist, Gayle’s work has appeared in major publications such as The New York Times, People, Elle, Time, and Seventeen. A fierce advocate for children, Gayle is one of the founding members of Authors Against Book Bans. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her family.
