Gayle Forman

Gayle Forman is an award-winning author and journalist, widely recognized for her contributions to young adult fiction. Born on June 5, 1970, she is best known for her novel If I Stay, which topped the New York Times best sellers list for Young Adult Fiction and was adapted into a major motion picture. Her works have been translated into more than forty languages.


Forman has also penned the Just One Day series, Where She Went, and many other acclaimed novels. Her venture into middle grade novels began with Frankie & Bug, recognized as a New York Times best children’s book of the year, followed by Not Nothing, praised as a β€œmasterpiece” and a timely read. Her upcoming novel, After Life, is set to be released in January 2025.


Before becoming a novelist, Gayle Forman was a journalist with her work appearing in prestigious publications like The New York Times, People, Elle, and Time. She is a passionate advocate for children, notably as one of the founding members of Authors Against Book Bans. Gayle Forman resides in Brooklyn, New York, with her family.
