Frank Miller is an American comic book artist, writer, and screenwriter known for his groundbreaking work in the comic book industry. His notable creations include the character Elektra in his acclaimed run on Daredevil, as well as graphic novels such as The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, Sin City, Ronin, and 300. Miller's work stands out for its unique blend of film noir and manga influences.
Miller once stated, "I realized when I started Sin City that I found American and English comics to be too wordy, too constipated, and Japanese comics to be too empty. So I was attempting to do a hybrid." This approach has earned him numerous accolades, including every major comic book industry award. In 2015, he was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame.
Beyond comics, Miller has made significant contributions to film. He wrote the scripts for the 1990s science fiction films RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, shared directing duties with Robert Rodriguez on Sin City and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, produced the film 300, and directed the film adaptation of The Spirit. Sin City earned a Palme d'Or nomination.
