Emilie Autumn

Emilie Autumn is an American singer-songwriter, poet, author, and violinist. Her musical style, often described by her as "Fairy Pop", "Fantasy Rock" or "Victoriandustrial", is heavily influenced by glam rock, plays, novels, and historical themes, particularly the Victorian era. With her all-female backup dancers, The Bloody Crumpets, she incorporates elements of classical music, cabaret, electronica, glam rock, theatrics, and burlesque into her performances.

Growing up in Malibu, California, Autumn began learning the violin at the age of four and left regular school five years later to pursue her ambition of becoming a world-class violinist. Her dedication was evident as she practiced eight to nine hours a day while also avidly reading literature. She eventually began writing her own music, studied under various teachers, and attended Indiana University, which she left due to perceived conflicts between classical music and the performer's appearance.

Autumn launched her career through her independent label, Traitor Records, with the 1997 classical album On a Day: Music for Violin & Continuo, followed by Enchant in 2003. In 2004, she joined Courtney Love's backing band for the America's Sweetheart tour before returning to Europe to release the 2006 album Opheliac with the German label Trisol Music Group. In 2007, she released Laced/Unlaced which included the re-release of On a Day... and electric violin tracks. In 2009, Autumn moved to The End Records to release Opheliac in the United States.

In 2012, she released the album Fight Like a Girl and also played the role of the Painted Doll in Darren Lynn Bousman's films The Devil's Carnival and its sequel Alleluia! The Devil's Carnival.
