Ellen Potter

Ellen Potter is an acclaimed American author known for her engaging children's and adults' books. Born in the 1960s, she grew up in the Upper West Side of New York City. Potter pursued her passion for creative writing at Binghamton University.

She is best known for her novels for young readers, including the Olivia Kidney series, Pish Posh, SLOB, The Kneebone Boy, and her newest series, Piper Green and the Fairy Tree. Her contributions to children's literature have earned her numerous awards and recognitions, with several of her works being named as "Best Books" by various magazines and libraries.

Her novel Olivia Kidney was the winner of the Child Magazine Best Book award and a Best Book of the Year selection for 8-12 year-olds by Parenting magazine. Another notable work, Spilling Ink: A Young Writer’s Handbook, co-authored with Anne Mazer, was recognized by the New York Public Library as a Top 100 Children's Book.

Besides novels, Potter has been a contributor to several publications, including the Cimarron Review, Epoch, The Hudson Review, and Seventeen magazine. She currently resides in Candor, upstate New York with her family.
