Elizabeth George

Susan Elizabeth George is an American writer of mystery novels, best known for her series featuring Inspector Thomas Lynley. Born on February 26, 1949, in Warren, Ohio, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area at eighteen months. George pursued English studies and acquired a teaching certificate, later teaching in the public school system while earning an advanced degree in psychology.

Her debut novel, A Great Deliverance, was published in 1988, introducing Scotland Yard Inspector Thomas Lynley, Lord Asherton. The series has been adapted by the BBC as The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, with the first eleven novels being televised. As of January 2022, the series includes twenty-one books, providing rich narratives set in Great Britain.

Elizabeth George's contributions to the mystery genre have extended to new adaptations, with a separate four-part series, Lynley, set to film in 2024, starring Leo Suter and Sofia Barclay. This ongoing influence in literature and media underscores her distinguished career.
