Efraim Medina Reyes is a Colombian writer, born on June 29, 1967 in Cartagena, Colombia. He is also the bassist and composer of the rock band 7 Torpes. Currently, he resides between Colombia and Vicenza, Italy.
Medina Reyes is influenced by American cinema, jazz music, and the works of Andrés Caicedo, an emblematic figure of contemporary Colombian literature. His writing emphasizes the hectic life of urban youths, utilizing narrative techniques such as collage. Some of his works have been translated and published in Italian by Feltrinelli, Portuguese by Planeta, French by 13e Note Editions, and Finnish by Ivan Rotta & Co.
Among his novels are Seis informes, Erase una vez el amor pero tuve que matarlo published by Editorial Babilonia in 2002, Sexualidad de la Pantera Rosa, Técnicas de masturbación entre Batman y Robin, the poetry collection Pistoleros/Putas y Dementes (Greatest Hits), and the short story book Cinema árbol. Medina Reyes has also ventured into film, writing and directing the movies Tres horas mirando un chimpancé and Eso no me infla la banana.
As a journalist, he contributes to magazines such as Soho, Trip de Brasil, and Internazionale de Italia. He has been the bassist and author of all the songs for 7 Torpes, and with this band, he is set to release what he calls "an album" in Italy.
