Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra, MD, FACP, FRCP, is a world-renowned author, new age guru, and alternative medicine advocate. Born in New Delhi, British India, he is a prominent figure in the New Age movement, known for his holistic approach to well-being, encompassing yoga, meditation, and nutrition.

Chopra studied medicine in India and emigrated to the United States in 1970, completing a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in endocrinology. He served as chief of staff at New England Memorial Hospital before becoming involved in the Transcendental Meditation movement. In 1996, he co-founded the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.

Chopra is a prolific author, with over 95 books, including numerous New York Times bestsellers. His ideas on "quantum healing" and alternative medicine have attracted both acclaim and criticism, with some labeling them as pseudoscience. Nevertheless, Chopra remains a significant influence in the field of mind-body medicine.

He is also a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of California, San Diego, and an Honorary Fellow in Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. TIME magazine has named him one of the top 100 most influential people.
