Daniel Hecht is an American author, environmentalist, and nonprofit development consultant. Born in 1950, he has written eight novels which have been published in 13 languages and over 100 editions throughout the world. His works have become best-sellers in countries like the United States, England, Holland, and Israel.
Hecht was born into an artist's community founded in 1946 by his parents and their friends in the wilds of Westchester County, N.Y. Surrounded by individualistic yet communalistic bohemians, he was inspired by artists in every discipline and followed in their footsteps.
Throughout his life, Hecht has lived all over the U.S. and has worked at various jobs to make ends meet. His diverse career includes roles as a mailman, logger, carpenter, musician, musical instrument builder, graphic designer, apple picker, farmhand, nonprofit organizational director, college administrator, and educator. This diverse background has allowed him to gain a wide range of perspectives, providing him with a rich education.
