Colum McCann is an Irish writer of literary fiction, born in Dublin, Ireland. He currently resides in New York and is acclaimed for being an international author who passionately believes in the "democracy of storytelling." McCann is not only a celebrated author but also plays a significant role in nurturing empathy across borders as the co-founder and President of Narrative 4, an international empathy education non-profit organization. Furthermore, he holds the position of Thomas Hunter Writer in Residence at Hunter College, New York.
McCann's literary achievements have been recognized globally, receiving prestigious awards such as the U.S National Book Award, the Dublin Literary Prize, several major European awards, and an Oscar nomination.
