Chris d'Lacey is an English writer of children's fiction, best known for writing The Last Dragon Chronicles. He has also authored numerous other books, including A Dark Inheritance.
He was born in Valetta, Malta, but moved with his family to Leicester and then Bolton as a child. He earned a degree in biology from the University of York and later worked in the Pre-Clinical Sciences department at the University of Leicester.
Originally, Chris's writing was focused on songs, and he did not venture into fiction until he was 32. His initial work was a 250,000-word story about polar bears written for his wife, Jay, to accompany a stuffed polar bear he had gifted her for Christmas. Seven years later, he wrote a book titled A Hole at the Pole for a children's story competition, though it did not win.
