Jean Edith Camilla Läckberg Sköld (born August 30, 1974) is a Swedish crime writer, renowned for her contributions to the genre often termed as Nordic noir. Her works have been translated into more than 40 languages across 60 countries, earning her the title of 'the rock star of Nordic noir'.
Before venturing into writing, Camilla Läckberg worked as a marketing director and product manager. Her transition to writing came as a result of a writing class gift, producing her debut novel, The Ice Princess. Her subsequent novels, including The Preacher and The Stonecutter, solidified her reputation, with the latter being nominated for The Crime Novel of the Year award in 2005.
Her stories frequently unfold in her birthplace, Fjällbacka, a small fishing community on Sweden's western coast. The novels typically start with a murder investigation revealing secrets and societal issues.
Camilla has written ten books in her Fjällbacka series, two in the Faye's Revenge series, and 11 about the superhero Super-Charlie. Her novels have been adapted into a TV series, extending her reach to global audiences.
Aside from her literary pursuits, Camilla Läckberg is an entrepreneur, co-owning a jewelry company and partnering in a healthcare initiative. She is actively involved in philanthropic efforts, particularly with The Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund.
Camilla also participated in Sweden's Dancing With the Stars, where she showcased her passion for dance. Her accolades include numerous awards recognizing her literary and entrepreneurial accomplishments.
