Brandon Mull is an American author best known for his children's fantasy series. His notable works include Fablehaven, Dragonwatch, The Candy Shop War, the Beyonders trilogy, and the Five Kingdoms series. He also initiated the Spirit Animals series.
Mull spent two years in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile, where he acquired proficiency in Spanish and juggling. He once won a pudding eating contest in his grandmotherβs backyard, earning a gold medal.
Personal Life: In June 2020, Mull married Erlyn Madsen, combining their families to have a total of eleven children, four from his previous marriage and seven from hers. He resides in a picturesque valley near the mouth of a canyon with his family.
Inspiration and Career: Inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and J. K. Rowling, Mull began his journey into writing, dreaming up adventures since childhood. After graduating from Brigham Young University in 2000, he pursued full-length novels. Despite initial rejections, his debut novel, Fablehaven, was published by Shadow Mountain Publishing and quickly found success.
In addition to his writing, Mull has worked in marketing copy. However, he dedicated himself full-time to writing after the success of Fablehaven. He is passionate about his work, balancing it with family life.
Dragonwatch continues the legacy of Fablehaven, and Mull is committed to delivering immersive stories yearly. With the Beyonders trilogy, Mull explores unique fantasy races, such as the Amar Kabal, enriching the narrative with original elements.
