Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay was an Indian writer, renowned for his contributions to the Bengali language. He was born on 12 September 1894 and passed away on 1 November 1950. His most acclaimed works include the autobiographical novel Pather Panchali (Song of the Little Road), Aparajito (Undefeated), Chander Pahar (Mountain of the Moon), and Aranyak (of the forest).
Bibhutibhushan's novel Pather Panchali was later adapted into the renowned Apu Trilogy films, directed by Satyajit Ray. He was posthumously awarded the 1951 Rabindra Puraskar, the most prestigious literary award in the West Bengal state of India, for his novel ইছামতী.
