Rebecca Albertalli, née Goldstein, is an acclaimed American author of young adult fiction and a former psychologist. Born on November 17, 1982, Becky is renowned for her debut novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which was adapted into the 2018 film Love, Simon and inspired the spin-off television series Love, Victor. In addition to Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, she has penned other novels such as The Upside of Unrequited, and Leah on the Offbeat. Becky is also known for her collaboration with Adam Silvera on the book What If It's Us. Before turning to writing, she worked as a clinical psychologist specializing in children and teens.
Becky's early life was filled with stories, from writing about her pets in preschool to directing a tragic play at the age of twelve. She has a rich background that includes a deep love for ice cream and desserts, a Jewish heritage, and a passion for literature, demonstrated by her childhood fascination with The Baby-Sitters Club and Sweet Valley High. Throughout her life, Becky has embraced her unique quirks, from rocking t-shirts from the Nature Company every day in middle school to her brief but powerful obsession with anime in high school. Her academic journey led her to major in psychology in college, study abroad at St. Andrews in Scotland, and earn a doctorate in clinical psychology in Washington, D.C., where she met her husband playing kickball.
