Ann Leckie is an acclaimed American author known for her significant contributions to the science fiction and fantasy genres. Her 2013 debut novel, Ancillary Justice, tackled themes of artificial consciousness and an agender society. The novel achieved immense success, sweeping the prestigious awards in the field including the Hugo, Nebula, Arthur C. Clarke, and BSFA Awards for "Best Novel."
Following the success of Ancillary Justice, Leckie completed the Imperial Radch trilogy with Ancillary Sword and Ancillary Mercy, both receiving the Locus Award and Nebula Award nominations. She continued to explore the Imperial Radch universe with her subsequent works, Provenance (published in 2017) and Translation State (published in 2023).
Branching into fantasy, Leckie released The Raven Tower in February 2019, marking her first foray into the genre. Apart from her novels, she has also contributed short stories to Subterranean Magazine, Strange Horizons, and Realms of Fantasy. Her story "Hesperia and Glory" was featured in the anthology Science Fiction: The Best of the Year, 2007 Edition, edited by Rich Horton.
Prior to her writing career, Leckie's diverse professional experiences included roles as a waitress, receptionist, rodman on a land-surveying crew, and a recording engineer. She resides in St. Louis, Missouri.
