Ana Mar�a del R�o Correa, born in 1948 in Santiago, Chile, is a renowned Chilean writer and literature professor known for her feminist perspective. Her literary works, which encompass novels, short stories, and works for both children and adults, reflect her commitment to exploring the female subjectivity. She is a prominent figure in the new Chilean narrative movement of the post-dictatorship 1990s.
Del R�o's academic journey includes studies in literature at the Universidad Cat�lica de Chile and further specializations at the universities of Rice and Pittsburg. Her literary debut came in 1985 with her book Entrepar�ntesis, followed by her first novel titled �xido de Carmen in 1986. Her work has been published in Chile, Spain, Argentina, and the United States, and she has been recognized with several awards including the Mar�a Luisa Bombal Award, the Andr�s Bello de novela Award (1990), the Municipal Novel Award (1995), and the Letras de Oro de Miami.
