Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Amelia Holt Atwater-Rhodes, known professionally as Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, is an American author of fantasy and young adult literature. She was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and has lived most of her life in Concord, Massachusetts. Her debut novel, In the Forests of the Night, was published in 1999, when she was just fourteen years old. She has published a new novel each year since her debut, earning her the title of "successor to Anne Rice" due to the fantasy themes in her books, particularly her vampire stories. Her most famous work is the Den of Shadows series, which follows the story of a vampire woman named Risika.

In addition to writing, Atwater-Rhodes is a Language Arts/Literature teacher at Learning Prep School in West Newton, MA. She grew up in Concord, Massachusetts, attending the public Concord-Carlisle school district and graduating in 2001. Throughout her school years, she was passionate about music and singing, and was involved in the music and drama community. She also participated in fencing for two years, which inspired some of her storylines. Amelia now resides in Massachusetts with her many pets.
