2023 was an interesting year. It feels like I read less than I would have liked, yet I found some really good books along the way. David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon was a revelation, making me a fan and reading all his bibliography at the New Yorker. Why Fish Doesn’t Exist was a local bookstore find and recommendation, which makes me incredibly grateful of local stores! Among the way is my ongoing search of meaning (and search for a more engaging job?). But if I would pick a highlight it would be Blood on the Tracks. Sure it’s manga, and not a “real book” but it’s one of a kind. There’s barely any words in it, but the story is unnerving just by the masterful art in every page. Some pages are just a single image, yet it’s powerful, and humane, and emotional. Can’t recommend it enough!
