Zeina Abirached is a Lebanese illustrator, graphic novelist, and comic artist, born in 1981 in Beirut, Lebanon. She pursued her education at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts ALBA and the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs. Her works are predominantly autobiographical, drawing narratives from her childhood experiences during the Lebanese Civil War and the history of her family, including the tale of her grandfather's invention of a new kind of piano.
Abirached has published several graphic novels, notably 'Beyrouth-Catharsis', '38, Rue Youssef Semaani', and 'Mourir, Partir, Revenir - Le Jeu des Hirondelles'. These works, initially published in French, have been translated into various languages including Dutch, Italian, and Spanish. Known for her black and white illustrations, Abirached's art vividly captures the essence of her experiences during the 1980s Lebanese civil war.
