Walter Moers, a renowned German comic artist, illustrator, and writer, was born on May 24, 1957. He is best known as the creator of the character Captain Bluebear and has gained widespread recognition as a best-selling author in Europe with his acclaimed Zamonia novels.
Aside from his literary accomplishments, Moers is also known for his reluctance to be photographed, a decision stemming from the controversies surrounding his comic strips The Little Asshole and Adolf, the latter of which caused significant uproar and led to him being declared persona non grata by the political right in Germany. Currently, Moers resides in Hamburg.
