Walter Moers (born 24 May 1957 in Mönchengladbach, Germany) is a renowned German comic artist, illustrator, and writer. He is widely recognized for creating the beloved character of Captain Bluebear and has achieved international acclaim as a best-selling author in Europe with his Zamonia novels.
Moers's journey in the creative field has been diverse and impactful. He has made significant contributions as a writer, cartoonist, painter, and sculptor. His refusal to be photographed, following the publication of his comic strips The Little Asshole and Adolf, highlights his unique stance in the public eye. The latter publication, in particular, led to him being declared persona non grata by the political right in Germany.
Currently residing in Hamburg, Moers continues to inspire and entertain with his vast and varied body of work.
