The Urantia Foundation is a Chicago-based non-profit organization, founded in 1950, that provides materials, promotes events, and offers guidance related to The Urantia Book. The authorship of The Urantia Book was left anonymous, with its content emerging between 1925 and its publication on October 12, 1955.

Those involved in its eventual publication included Dr. William S. Sadler, his wife Dr. Lena K. Sadler, and their son William Samuel Sadler Jr. The Sadlers formed a group known as the Forum in 1925. The papers were reportedly received from celestial beings as a result of questions gathered in the Forum. An anonymous person, referred to as the "contact personality" or "sleeping subject", allegedly spoke and later wrote while in an extraordinary trance or unconscious state. The Sadlers, along with two members of Lena's family, Anna Kellogg and Wilfred Kellogg, were pivotal in the process.
