Tony Dungy

Anthony Kevin Dungy (born October 6, 1955) is a former professional American football safety and coach. He is prominently known for his 13-season tenure as a head coach in the National Football League (NFL), with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. Under his leadership, his teams became regular playoff contenders, with the Colts winning Super Bowl XLI, making Dungy the first African American head coach to win a Super Bowl.

Dungy's head coaching career began in 1996 with the Buccaneers, a franchise struggling at the time. He successfully implemented the Tampa 2 defensive scheme, leading the team to four playoff appearances in six seasons. After being fired in 2001 due to repeated playoff struggles, he was credited with building the team that won Super Bowl XXXVII the next year. He later served as the Colts' head coach for seven seasons, achieving playoff qualification each year, and reaching ultimate success with a Super Bowl victory in 2006, the franchise's first win in over three decades and since moving to Indianapolis. Dungy retired from coaching after the 2008 season.

In retirement, Dungy has served as an analyst on NBC's "Football Night in America" and is a national spokesman for the fatherhood program All Pro Dad. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
