Tomás Downey is an Argentine writer, screenwriter, translator, and educator born in Buenos Aires in 1984. Celebrated as one of the most distinguished authors of his generation, his body of work includes three collections of short stories. Downey navigates through the realms of fantasy and horror, delving into the eerie and the supernatural. His literary accomplishments include winning the first prize from the National Endowment for the Arts in Argentina in 2015 and being awarded the first prize in the short story competition of the María Elena Walsh Foundation in 2017.
Downey's journey into writing also encompasses his career as a screenwriter, having graduated from the National School of Experimentation and Filmmaking (ENERC). He is the author of an as yet unpublished novel and is currently working on a new book of short stories. His work Acá el tiempo es otra cosa won the First Prize in the short story genre at the National Endowment for the Arts in 2013, with a jury composed of José María Brindisi, Mariana Enriquez, and Guillermo Saccomanno.
