Sylvia Alderyn Brownrigg, born on December 16, 1964, is a celebrated American author. She has penned seven books of fiction and a family memoir. Notably, Brownrigg's works have been featured on The New York Times notable fiction lists, as well as in the Los Angeles Times and Kirkus books of the year.
Under the pseudonym Juliet Bell, she authored the children's book Kepler's Dream, which was adapted into an independent film in 2017. Her novel Pages for You earned her a Lambda Literary Award in 2002, and she published its sequel in 2017.
Brownrigg's reviews and critical writings have been published in numerous prestigious outlets, including The New York Times Book Review, The Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, New Statesman, Los Angeles Times, and The Believer. She has taught at the American University in Paris and is involved with the Bay Area Book Festival and Oxfam America's Leadership Council. Sylvia resides in Berkeley, California, with her family and divides her time between there and London.
