Sylvain Neuvel

Sylvain Neuvel is a Canadian science fiction writer, linguist, and translator. He is best known as the author of the series The Themis Files and Take Them to the Stars.

Neuvel dropped out of high school at age 15 and has held various jobs, including journalist, working in soil decontamination, selling ice cream in California, and peddling furniture across Canada. He earned a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Chicago, taught linguistics in India, and worked as a software engineer in Montreal.

Neuvel is also a certified translator, though he wishes he were an astronaut. He enjoys tinkering, dabbling in robotics, and is somewhat obsessed with Halloween. He has a passion for toys, which he uses as an inspiration for writing about aliens and giant robots, claiming it's an excuse to build action figures for his son.
