Sylvain Neuvel is a Canadian science fiction writer, linguist, and translator. He is best known as the author of the series The Themis Files and Take Them to the Stars.
Neuvel dropped out of high school at the age of 15. His diverse career includes roles as a journalist, work in soil decontamination, selling ice cream in California, and peddling furniture across Canada. He earned a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Chicago, taught linguistics in India, and worked as a software engineer in Montreal. In addition to his writing, he is a certified translator, though he harbors dreams of becoming an astronaut.
He enjoys tinkering, has a keen interest in robotics, and has an enthusiasm for Halloween. Neuvel is also passionate about toys, often using them as inspiration for his writing about aliens and giant robots, which he humorously claims is an excuse to build action figures for his son.
