Steve Kluger

Steve Kluger is an American author, playwright, journalist, librettist, and lyricist, whose writing is noted for its themes of baseball, gay rights, and historical events, particularly World War II. He is recognized for his contributions to civil rights, gay rights, and baseball community causes, including the Japanese American internment redress and the campaign to save Fenway Park.

Born on June 24, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, Kluger grew up with only two heroes: Tom Seaver and Ethel Merman. His diverse writing subjects range from World War II to rock and roll, and even the Titanic, but he holds a special affinity for baseball and the Boston Red Soxโ€”a love that's often reflected in his works.

His second novel, Last Days of Summer, served as the basis for the 2018 musical of the same title.

Steve Kluger currently resides in Brookline, Massachusetts.
