Sita Rose Bennett is an Australian author renowned for her young adult fantasy books, which depict misfits on journeys for truth and freedom in fractured worlds. Additionally, she is a Nordic-Australian author and actress, raised on the coast of Margaret River, W.A. She began her acting career in theatre and appeared in her first film at a young age.
Having studied acting and writing, Bennett spent some time in a monastery, which deeply influenced her work. She has published a series of fantasy books, worked in film and television, and co-created several award-winning art-house films with her brother, director/cinematographer Mana Bennett, that have been screened internationally.
Her writing has been recognized internationally, allowing her to participate in several writing residencies, including the Westfjords Artist Residency and Gröndal‘s House Iceland. There, she wrote ‘A Silent Witness’, a short story and poem published in issue seven of Ós Pressan — the Icelandic Literary Journal.
Bennett describes her creative journey as one shaped by silence before words, and reflects on storytelling as a bridge between the tangible and abstract. Through her personal experiences with illness, she discovered a refuge in words and stories, using them as a tool to explore existential themes and the human condition.
Her philosophy on life and storytelling is marked by a recognition of impermanence, as she eloquently expresses through poetic musings on existence and transformation.
