Sherryl Jordan

Sherryl Rose Jordan (née Brogden) was a renowned New Zealand writer known for her captivating works for children and young adults, specializing in fantasy and historical fiction. She was born on June 8, 1949, and passed away on December 15, 2023. Among her well-known works are The Juniper Game and The Raging Quiet.

Throughout her career, Jordan was celebrated for her contributions to literature, receiving numerous accolades, including the Margaret Mahy Medal in 2001 for her exceptional contribution to children's literature, publishing, and literacy. Her breakthrough work, Rocco, published in the United States as A Time of Darkness, marked the beginning of her journey into crafting stories that blend fantasy with elements of science fiction and romantic realism.
