Shannon Hale

Shannon Hale (née Shannon Bryner), born January 26, 1974, is an American author renowned for her contributions to young adult fantasy literature. Her works include the Newbery Honor book Princess Academy and The Goose Girl. Hale ventured into adult fiction with her novel Austenland, which was adapted into a film in 2013. A distinguished alumna of the University of Utah and the University of Montana, Shannon Hale has a prolific writing career.

Her portfolio extends to the New York Times best-selling young adult novels such as Princess Academy, the award-winning Book of a Thousand Days, and the highly acclaimed Books of Bayern series. Hale has also penned three books for adults, including Midnight in Austenland, a companion book to Austenland. Together with her husband Dean, she co-wrote the popular graphic novel Rapunzel's Revenge and its sequel Calamity Jack.

Shannon Hale resides near Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband Dean and their four children, along with their pet, a small, plastic pig.
