Sean Stewart is a distinguished American-Canadian science fiction and fantasy author born on June 2, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas. His family relocated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1968. Over the years, Stewart has lived in various places including Houston, Texas; Vancouver, British Columbia; Irvine, California; and Monterey, California. He currently resides in Davis, California, with his wife and two daughters.

Stewart earned an Honors degree in English from the University of Alberta in 1987. He initially pursued a career in novel writing before transitioning into interactive fiction. Notably, he was the lead writer for the web-based Alternate Reality Game, The Beast. He has also served as a consultant in various capacities.
