Stephen Michael Stirling is a French-born Canadian-American science fiction and fantasy author. He is renowned for his Draka series of alternate history novels, along with his later time travel/alternate history Nantucket series and the Emberverse series.

Stirling was born on September 30, 1953 in France. He is Canadian by origin and has become American through naturalization. Currently, Stirling resides in New Mexico.

His interests include history, anthropology, and archaeology, along with a fascination for sciences. Moreover, he actively participates in martial arts, which is his primary physical hobby.
