Robin Benway is a National Book Award-winning and New York Times-bestselling author of young adult fiction. Benway's work has garnered critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including the National Book Award for Young People's Literature for her novel Far from the Tree, the PEN America Literary Award, and the Blue Ribbon Award from the Bulletin for the Center of Children's Books.
Born in Orange County, California, Benway pursued her higher education at New York University (NYU), where she earned the Seth Barkas Prize for Creative Writing, and at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Having authored eight novels for young adults, her titles include Audrey, Wait!, the AKA series, Emmy & Oliver, and the aforementioned Far from the Tree. Her work has been recognized by the American Library Association (ALA) as Best Books for Young Adults and Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults.
Benway's novels are distinguished by their critical reception, with starred reviews in Kirkus, Booklist, and Publishers Weekly, and her books have reached an international audience, being published in over 25 countries. Far from the Tree has also been named one of the best books of the year by The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, NPR, PBS, Entertainment Weekly, and the Boston Globe.
