Robert Kilgore Muchamore (born 26 December 1972) is an English author of young adult fiction. He is best known for his CHERUB, Henderson's Boys and Rock War series. Robert was born in Islington, London and has lived there all his life. Prior to becoming a full-time writer, he worked as a private investigator until 2005, when the critically-acclaimed release of Maximum Security marked his breakthrough in the literary world.
The phenomenon of The Hunger Games is part of the huge young adult and children's book explosion that has grown in recent years, thanks in part to British authors like Anthony Horowitz, Robert Muchamore, Mark A. Cooper, and Charlie Higson. Muchamore played a significant role in this trend, inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephew, who complained about the lack of interesting books for young readers. CHERUB: The Recruit, his first book, won the Red House Children's Book Award in 2005 in the Older Readers Category.
