Robert Jackson Bennett is an acclaimed American writer of speculative and fantasy fiction. Born in 1984 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he graduated from the University of Texas in 2005 and currently resides in Austin, Texas.

His fifth novel, City of Stairs (2014), marked the beginning of the fantasy trilogy The Divine Cities, which includes City of Blades (2016) and City of Miracles (2017). This trilogy was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Series in 2018.
In 2018, Bennett launched a new series with Foundryside, the first book in The Founders Trilogy. The final installment, Locklands, was released in June 2022.
Bennett has won numerous awards, including the Shirley Jackson Award for Best Novel, the Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original, and the Sydney J Bounds Award for Best Newcomer. He has also received a Philip K. Dick Award Citation of Excellence. His work has been shortlisted for the World Fantasy, British Fantasy, and Locus Awards.
He lives in Austin with his family and, despite his busy writing schedule, maintains a personal website at robertjacksonbennett.com, though he humorously notes a focus on his writing over website maintenance.
