Robert Fisher

Robert Fisher was a renowned American author and screenwriter, known for his extensive work in television comedy.

He began his career at the age of 19, writing scripts for notable comedians such as Groucho Marx, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, George Burns, and Alan King.

Over his career, he was involved in more than 400 radio comedy programs and nearly 1200 television shows.

Fisher was one of the most prolific sitcom writers, beginning his television work in the 1950s alongside veteran radio writer Alan Lipscott. Together, they wrote the first episode of the CBS-TV sitcom Make Room For Daddy in 1953 and continued to craft teleplays for shows like The Donna Reed Show, Bachelor Father, Bronco, and How to Marry a Millionaire.

Following Lipscott’s death in 1961, Fisher partnered with Arthur Marx for over twenty-five years, producing episodes for McHale's Navy, My Three Sons, The Mothers-in-Law, The Paul Lynde Show, and Life With Lucy in 1986.
