Rachel Kushner is an American writer, born on October 7, 1968. She is best known for her novels Telex from Cuba (2008), The Flamethrowers (2013), and The Mars Room (2018). Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations.
Kushner's The Mars Room was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award, while The Flamethrowers was a finalist for the National Book Award and was named a top ten book of 2013 by The New York Times. Additionally, Telex from Cuba was also a finalist for the National Book Award.
Her accolades include prizes and fellowships from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Guggenheim Foundation. Kushner's novels have been translated into 26 languages. She resides in Los Angeles.
