Perry Moore

William Perry Moore IV (November 4, 1971 – February 17, 2011), widely known as Perry Moore, was an American author, screenwriter, and film director. He was an executive producer of The Chronicles of Narnia film series and the author of Hero, an award-winning novel about a gay teenage superhero.

Perry Moore grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and attended Norfolk Academy. He majored in English at the University of Virginia, where he was an Echols Scholar. A longtime fan of children’s literature and comic books, Hero was his first novel and the first of a fantasy series about a group of modern-day superheroes, telling the story of the world’s first gay teen superhero. A big screen adaptation is in the works with Stan Lee.

Moore died on February 17, 2011, at the age of 39, of an apparent overdose of pain medication at his home in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan.
