Robert Farrell Smith, known by his pseudonym Obert Skye, is an American humor writer born in 1970. He began publishing children's books under the name Obert Skye in 2005. He is renowned for his works in comedy and fantasy, especially the Leven Thumps series, the Pillage trilogy, and The Creature from My Closet series. Additionally, he authored the Witherwood Reform School and Beyond Foo series.

Skye read his first book at age two, wrote his first story at age four, and had a memorable encounter with a herd of water buffalo at age six. He spent some time living on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, where he worked as a candy-taster. He claims to have discovered the existence of Foo, which inspired his fictional series. Although publishing this "history" was not his initial choice, he is satisfied that the story is being shared.
