Nora Raleigh Baskin is an American author renowned for her works in children's and young adult literature. She was born on May 18, 1961. Baskin began exploring semi-autobiographical fiction in the sixth grade, which paved the way for her first middle-grade novel, "What Every Girl (except me) Knows," published by Little, Brown in 2001.

With a career spanning over two decades, she has authored fifteen books. Her writing often draws inspiration from her own life experiences, offering a unique introspective perspective in her storytelling.
