Nobuhiro Watsuki

Nobuhiro Watsuki, born Nobuhiro Nishiwaki, is a renowned Japanese manga artist celebrated for his samurai-themed series Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story which was serialized from 1994 to 1999. The series garnered immense popularity with over 70 million copies in circulation. Following its success, Watsuki is currently working on a sequel titled Rurouni Kenshin: The Hokkaido Arc which began in 2017.

Aside from his flagship series, Watsuki has created other notable works including the western Gun Blaze West, the supernatural Buso Renkin, and the horror-themed manga Embalming -The Another Tale of Frankenstein-. Watsuki's influence extends beyond his own creations, as he has mentored several prominent manga artists, such as Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, Hiroyuki Takei of Shaman King, and Shinya Suzuki, known for Mr. Fullswing. He once worked as an assistant for his favorite author, Takeshi Obata.
