Nino Haratischwili

Nino Haratischwili is a Georgian-born German novelist, playwright, and theater director. She was born on 8 June 1983 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Haratischwili attended a German-language school in Tbilisi. To escape the political and social chaos following the collapse of the Soviet Union, she moved to Germany with her mother for two years in the early 1990s, where she attended the seventh and eighth grades. Her family returned to Georgia afterward.

Haratischwili later returned to Germany to pursue drama school in Hamburg. After several years working as a theater director in Hamburg, she published her first book, Juja, in 2010. She became a German citizen in 2012 and currently resides in Hamburg.

Throughout her career, Haratischwili has received numerous accolades, including the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize, the Kranichsteiner Literaturpreis, and the Literaturpreis des Kulturkreises der deutschen Wirtschaft.
