Nick Bantock

Nick Bantock is a British artist and author born on 14 July 1949. He is widely recognized for his imaginative and visually captivating series, The Griffin and Sabine Trilogy. Based in Saltspring Island, British Columbia, Bantock has published his books through Raincoast Books in Canada and Chronicle Books in the United States. His works are known for their intricate designs, featuring elements such as faux postage stamps, handwritten documents, passports, postcards, and other ephemera.

Educated in England, Bantock holds a BA in Fine Art (painting) and has authored 30 books, 11 of which have made it to bestseller lists. Notably, Griffin & Sabine remained on the New York Times bestseller list for over two years. His works have been translated into 13 languages, with over 5 million copies sold worldwide.

Recognized by Weird Tales magazine as one of the top 85 storytellers of the century, Bantock has contributed articles and stories to various international newspapers and magazines. His artwork, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, collages, and prints, has been showcased in exhibitions across the UK, France, and North America.

In addition to his literary and artistic achievements, Bantock was awarded a lifetime BAFTA (British Oscar) for the CD-ROM Ceremony of Innocence, created with Peter Gabriel's Real World. He has delivered speeches to audiences around the globe and served on a committee selecting Canada’s postage stamps between 2007 and 2010.
