Neil Darrow Strauss, also known by the pen names Style and Chris Powles, is an American author and journalist. Born on March 9, 1969, he is best known for his book The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists, which describes his experiences in the seduction community in an effort to become a "pickup artist."
In addition to The Game, Strauss has contributed as a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and regularly wrote for The New York Times. He is the author of New York Times bestsellers such as Rules of the Game, Emergency, and Everyone Loves You When You're Dead. He has also co-authored several other bestsellers including Jenna Jameson's How to Make Love Like a Porn Star, Mötley Crüe's The Dirt, Marilyn Manson's The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, and Dave Navarro's Don't Try This at Home.
His latest book, The Truth: An Uncomfortable Book About Relationships, was reviewed positively by Grantland, who encouraged a wide audience to read it.
