Neal Shusterman

Neal Shusterman is an American writer of young adult fiction, born on November 12, 1962. He has gained fame for his numerous award-winning novels and contributions to literature for teens.

Shusterman's Achievements: He won the 2015 National Book Award for Young People's Literature for his book Challenger Deep, and his novel, Scythe, was a 2017 Michael L. Printz Honor book. In 2024, he was honored with the Margaret Edwards Award for his significant and lasting contribution to writing for teens.

He is also renowned for his Unwind Dystology, which has earned more than thirty domestic and international awards. His works, such as Dry and Roxy, co-written with his son Jarrod, have been critically acclaimed. Shusterman's novels are currently in development as TV series and movies.

Besides writing, Shusterman is a dynamic speaker and a talented storyteller, often sought after for conferences and school events. His creative repertoire extends to film directing, music, and stage play writing.

Educational Background: Shusterman grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and completed his high school years at the American School of Mexico City. He furthered his education at UC Irvine, where he wrote a successful humor column and was part of the UCI swim team.

Shusterman resides in Jacksonville, Florida, but he dedicates much of his time to traveling, speaking, and engaging with readers worldwide.
