Mike Scantlebury was born in the Delta, located in the south west of England, an area characterized by its natural beauty where the curlews fly and the marigolds vanish. His early years were marked by a voracious appetite for reading, which led him through the shelves of his local library.
Seeking to expand his horizons, Mike ventured to Manchester in 1974. There, he continued his education at the local Polytechnic, where he was encouraged to read extensively and engage in intellectual discussions. However, writing essays during this time was more of a chore for him than a pleasure.
Mike's professional journey included a stint in teaching followed by many years devoted to Community Development. In this role, he assisted individuals in realizing their potential and achieving their aspirations, sometimes even when they themselves were unaware of them.
Upon entering semi-retirement, Mike discovered the time and inspiration to craft novels. His storytelling is deeply rooted in the essence of human experience and the gritty realities of Inner City life, resulting in narratives that are both compelling and thought-provoking.
